About:China Visa Application Requirements

Hi, a friend of mine tried to get a visa to visit China in Europe. He was told he needed a bank statement, a purchased plane ticket, and a letter of introduction, as well as proof of travel insurance. I plan to visit China but am not buying my plane ticket until I know I can get a visa. Also, don't plan to buy travel insurance. I can't find any info on the Chinese consulate website about these requirements and nobody is picking up their phone. I don't want to wait in line for hours only to be told I need a plane ticket to apply. Is htis true for Americans?

Mr.Jenny, I apply for China tourist visa in January from China consulate in Houston, the purchased plane ticket, travel insurance are not required, I just provide my valid paspsort, fill one visa application form and attach one paspsort photo on this form, I apply for multiple entry visa, but I obtain a single entry L visa.

I guess that your friend was asked to provide these documents because he applied for visa in Europe rather than USA
