About:Chinese Embasy in Ireland

I'm doing an around the world trip this summer. The last leg of my trip arrives in Hong Kong from Australia and then I have three weeks to make my way up to Beijing from where I will fly back to Ireland. Will this be ok or should I have confirmed dates and tickets to enter China from Hong Kong? Also as my trip starts on May 1 but I don't arrive in Hong Kong until August, would it be best to try organise the China visa now?

It is too early for you to organize China visa now, a single entry tourist visa is only valid for 3 months, if you get a visa now, it expires when you go to China. Irish nationals can apply for a China tourist visa in Hong Kong, you can prepare the visa at Commissioner's Office of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of PRC in Hong Kong, it takes 4 working days.
