About:China Visa Fees

I have overstayed by one day. This is my 2nd offense (1st time was also one day). Both times are in Shenzhen. I also do not have a temporary residence permit. I am married to a Chinese woman.

It is the Chinese New Year, and the PSB is not open. They are supposed to open February 8th (sixth day of the new year on the lunar calendar). Employees at the border crossing can only tell me very little. They say I will probably need a visa extension, which is the 10-day exit visa, and to get a new visa (possibly revoking my original visa).

This forum has several stories of people being refused new visas after leaving with getting the 10-day exit visa and applying for a new one. My belongings and wife are in China, and I would like to continue to live here. Will someone with a similar history or experienced knowledge tell me what has happened in similar cases? And what steps should I take?

I do not have a temporary residence permit. If I acquire one before going to the PSB, won't they see that I've just received it anyway? How will this affect my situation?

Don't worry, overstay for one day is not serious, and you'd better provide explaination when you visit PSB. you will have no trouble if you luckily meet a good officer.

Because the PSB has been on holiday, it will be 5 days overstay when they finally open. And the border-crossing official I talked with checked the regulations, and PSB closed on holidays adding to the overstay is the foreigner's responsibility. I have my explanation, and my wife also in case I can't express myself clearly.

I guess I hope I meet a "good officer" also... I read these cases of "black-star" visas, and can't tell if my case is serious enough to merit one or not. Being kicked out will take more than ten days to manage properly.

It all will happen in a few hours. I'll report back when I next have internet afterward...

Hello,

Thanks for the helpul comments and website.

For me, I went on Monday morning and was interviewed, had the fine calculated daily, then applied for the exit visa, then received the exit visa one week later, then exited the country as required. My original visa remained intact.
