Mr.M Yaqoob Paracha, without the original passport, the China embassy can't issue you a China visa, the visa is issued on the visa page of your passport.

You can print the soft copy of your old passport, then provide the photocopy of your old passport with many records of visiting China and other countries, I think it is helpful for your application.
