Agriculture is still the base of its enconomy. Compated with previous dynasties (Tang and Song), it has more advanced technology, larger field area, more grain output and stronger stock raising industry. Apart from official handcraft work shops, the goverment enourage private work shops. Cotton textile, felt making, porcelain and pringting industries were all better developed. Marine transportation was well developed. The goverment set up special offices in charge of foreign exchange at present Quanzhou, Ningbo, Shanghai, Wenzhou, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, etc. However, Yuan is a short dynasty.
