About:How to Get from Hangzhou to Shanghai

Hi,

we will be arriving to Hnagzhou airport on Friday evening at 23:35 - what is the best way to get to Shanghai? How much would taxi cost and how long would it take?

Generally, Hangzhou taxi won't run to Shanghai downtown area. It only reach Shanghai Hongqiao airport. The taxi fare is about CNY600-700 and takes about 3 hours. I advise you take a taxi to Hangzhou railway station and take train to Shanghai.

Thanks David but we arrive on a Friday night at 23:35 and looking at the trains schedules there's no more trains after 21:00 .. or have I misread it?

Ms. Min, you are right that the last train from Hangzhou to Shanghai departs at 21:51. In that case, I'm afraid you have to stay one night in Hangzhou and go to Shanghai the next day.
