I booked a flight for my husband to arrive in china on 21 but i just heard that there's a festival/holiday starting on the 23rd and all the shops and markets will be closed for 2 weeks. Now we are panicking that he'll find everywhere closed and he won't be able to buy anything. When is the festival/holiday starting and will all the shops and markets closed? This is very urgent, please help.

No, the Chinese Spring Festival will be on Feb. 3, and some of the shops will be closed from the end of Jan. not from 23rd when most of the shops and markets will still be open.
