About:Shanghai Taxi

I'll take a taxi from Pudong Airport to Yu Garden Hotel.
43Km ride more or less = 150-200 RMB. so far no worries, but:
Can the drivers understand English?
I read on the web that some companies have those "stars" type rank near the driver's license to tell how much experience/English knowledge they have.
Is that true?

I think few taxi drivers in Shanghai can speak English, and there is no info. on the drivers' license to show their English level.

Best way is to write down the address in chinese (get someone's help or copy from website). The stars just show how good he is as a driver (skills, experience etc). No indication of English. And also you cannot stand there waiting for the high star rating taxi to come your way. One more way is to call your chinese contact and have him talk to driver.
