About:Shanghai Pudong Airport

Hello,

We recently purchased plane tickets from NYC to Hong Kong with a layover in Shanghai for a vacation in China. We were thinking of just staying in Shanghai instead of getting our connecting flight to Hong Kong. Would we be able to get out bags and do this? Would you know of anyone we could talk to verify this is possible?

Thanks very much in advance!!

Do you have a valid China visa(https://www.travelchinaguide.com/embassy/visa.htm) ? If you have, you can just affirm it from your airline company.
If not, before you make boarding pass flying from NYC to Shanghai, you'd better ask for the airline company to transit you luggage to Shanghai first.
If you hold connect bording pass of your next flight, you can stay in Shanghai for 48 hours without a visa.
