About:Marco Polo Memorial Museum

i am currently in shanghai with a tourist visa, no one told me i have to report to the police station for accomodation registration. in shanghai i am staying with my friends. the question i want to ask is, is there any fine because of this. i am applying for student visa that is how i found out that i need to obtain the accomodation registration form from the police station. ( i have been staying in shanghai for 3 weeks already)

the second question, if i haven't report at all and go back to my country (tourist visa). will there be any problem if i travel to chiina in the future?

if you are staying w/ your friends i'm sure they have the rent/lease contract and you can go to the apartment/condominium's administration dept and they can help you in securing a temporary resident permit. you need that to change your current L visa to a student visa, or if you are extending

Please don't worry, you don't need to pay for fine, you can obtain the accommodation registration from a foreigner accredited hotel for 1 night, but you will need to check in early as the document must be for the night of the day you are applying, not the one before. It is complex to get the accommodation registration from the police station.

If you haven't report at all and go back to your country, you won't have any problem if you travel to China in future.

In principal, foreigners need to make accommodation registration at police station within 24 hours after entry, but few foreigners to do so.
