About:China Visa on Arrival

I am in Korea right now (Dec 13) and have been issued a brand new Passport (USA) due to my last one being misplaced. I have been to China many times in the past 2 years. But no Visa showing this in my passport since it is new. I need to get to Shanghai on Thursday on a last minute business trip to make sure our equipment is installed right since we are moving it out of Korea due to their instability with the North. How can I get over there without a Visa today?

I think, the only way for you is to visit Shanghai by transit Shanghai airport, because visa is not required if you transit through Pudong Airport or Hongqiao Airport of Shanghai, providing valid passport, visas for the onward countries or final destination ticket. in this way, you can stay in Shanghai for less than 48 hours.

Are you saying I should fly from ICN to Shanghai? Or through another airport from ICN? I only need to be there a couple of days. Thanks again for all you help.

USA passport holders are not allowed to apply for a visa on arrival, you need to apply for a China visa in Korea before your trip. Otherwise, you will be refused to enter Shanghai(https://www.travelchinaguide.com/cityguides/shanghai.htm)
