About:China Train

Hello there! My husband and I will be cruising and will end up in Shanghai on 14 March 2011. From there we would like to go by train on around about the 14, 15, 16 March 2011 to Chengdu and book in for one night and book to have a hold and play with the Pandas. Is this possible and how long does it take by train?
Thank you kindly - from downunder!

Yes, you can make the trip. The trip takes about 35-39 hours, rather a long journey. The fastest train is K290. You may search the detailed info from China Trains(https://www.travelchinaguide.com/china-trains/) by entering the departure and arrival stations. A flight is better recommended for such a long journey on train.
Book a hotel for one night? You may book in a Chengdu hotel through TravelChinaGuide.
As I know, you have to queue to hold a panda, RMB 1,000 for a panda baby and rmb500 for an big one for several minutes. It is just expensive! You can get to the panda center earlier and ask if you can hold panda for a while. It seems not available every day. Good luck~ Well, 9-10am is the best time to see pandas for it is active breakfast time. If you come late, they get to sleep again.
