About:Policy for Foreigners with Immediate Family Living in China

Hello, I am married since 1 year with a Chinese citizen. We have apartment in China, registered on my wife as I can not own apartment myself. I have L visa with multiple entries 90 days stay and valid time is 1 year. I have to go to Sweden once/year to renew the visa. My question is, what is the difference for me with the visa I have now and the resident permit/family visit visa? Is it that i dont have to go to Sweden to renew? Can I own apartment together with my wife on the latter visa? I am working at sea so I am staying in China for 10 weeks and then I work outside China 10 weeks and so on..so the 90 days stay I have on L visa is enough and dont need any other visa for the number of days I want to stay in China. Looking forward for a reply. Thank you. /Kalle

Dear Ms.Enid, Thanks for your swift reply. One thing I was thinking about is the residence permit. It says you can be granted a 2 year validity, can I apply for that? In that case this is better than the L visa. For the apartment I mentioned earlier, if I get family visa or temporary residence permit, can I be owner of my apartment together with my wife? She is standing alone as owner right now but we are both registered as living in the apartment with the local authorities. Thank you. /Kalle

Mr.Karl, the one year L visa with multi entries and 90 days stay is very much the same as the new family visit visa, no big difference actually. As you said, it is enough for you to China. You can get your current visa extended from the local PSB in China when it expires. Sorry, I am not clear with the apartment issue.

a residence permit valid for two years is only reachable for foreigners over 60 and children under 18. For the apartment issue, I think you'd better consult with an attorney.
Best regards.
