About:China Visa Fees

I have been traveling all over China for the past 4 months. I realize that I have overstayed my 60 day visa for about 60 days. I just got into town this weekend and I surrendered myself into the local PSB. I am currently staying with a friend, who is Chinese and lives with his girlfriend. The local PSB said to go and report yourself to obtain a temporary residence permit. When I went to the local police station, they after finding that I have a overstayed my Visa, they say, "who are you staying with so that we can punish them." Being a good friend, I told my friend that I will not get their landlord involved, so I told them I don't know. Today I went to the Exit and Entry Bureau near the lama temple to perhaps skip temp res permit, they also told me that I will need some document from the local police station. I know that I have to pay the fine, but is there anything I can do to avoid getting my friends landlord involved. I told them that I don't have any place to go and that the local hostel won't take me in either, because of my overstayed visa. I can't get an exit visa because they keep asking me for a temp res permit. I'm stuck in a loop, what came first the chicken or the egg? I don't know what to do any more. any insight on this? I do plan to go to HK and apply for a new visa and reenter, and NEVER overstay again. but I just can't seem to get to that part. HELLLPPPP PLEEAASSSEE!!!!

Mr.Laserpen, please take a train to Shenzhen because staff in train won't check your passport and China visa, then go to Hong Kong from Shenzhen, when you pass the customs for exit, the immigration officer won't let you go, then you can pay for fine for overstay. The immigration officer won't punish your friend.

I went to the US Embassy today to see if they can help me in anyway, they said that they can't do anything about it and that I need to go and pay PSB at Andingmen. The US Embassy said if I told the PSB that I just got there and have no place to stay and if there should be any fees, to put the fees onto me. Back into the loop I go right? I've tried another hostel, and they said since my visa is invalid that there is nothing they can do about it. I have just one more plan since I have one more day before Saturday in which I booked the train tickets to Shenzhen. Tomorrow, I have another friend who will go with me to another local police station and try to get the Temp res permit. If that doesn't work then I'll just head to Shenzhen over the week and try to get through the gates into HK. The other thing is that what if they won't let me through to Shenzhen to HK, I'll be stuck in Shenzhen without a friend, and a place to stay. I know it might be a long shot, but I don't think I have much of a choice if the other plan doesn't work. I might have to give this thing a shot. I guess I'll let you guys know what happens...

I canceled my Shenzhen tickets. So after a hectic week, I've finally got things rolling. Since I don't want to be black listed, as I read somewhere that if you don't try to take care of your overstayed Visa before going to the border, that you will be blacklisted and can not enter China again for a while. My friend and I decided to go to the local police station again. This time, the lady who yelled at us last time was very nice, she said that "things will be easy if we get your paperwork and the landlord and his paperwork." So we headed back to get the landlord who wasn't surprised about the leg work he had to do. So my friend and I headed over to the local copy place and got my (1) passport picture page copied (2) visa page copied. After this, we got the landlord to copy his ID, and bring his confirmation of ownership. We set on our journey back to the local police station. When we got there, it was already after lunch, in which they changed shifts.(a little after 2 o'clock) I was thinking in my head like, holy crap, I hope this lady cop didn't have a rough weekend. She started out by talking to us in with no manners, like you guys don't have all of the paperwork and started asking questions like "When did you arrive here in Beijing?" She says, "You know that you are suppose to register 24 hours when you arrive." after about 3 more mins of talking about something else, she decided to call the PSB. They told her about the situation and her frown started to turn upright, where it should have been in the first place. She said started talking about how long I'm going to stay at this address and when will i go and take care of the Visa in HK. She was rather nice, so I lucked out! No fees or punishments. Just gotta make sure I run through this process again when I get back in from HK. She quickly printed out the Temp residence permit and now i'm off to the Lama Temple. Tomorrow, of course. Everyday is different just like the moods of people.

After getting all of my paperwork done 3 days after I have received my Temp Res Permit, The Lama Temple's PSB have requested that I have my purchased plane or train ticket before I can apply for the exit visa. I had to go buy a train ticket and apparently you can only buy the train ticket 5 days ahead of the departure date. It takes 5 working days to complete my visa application, which means approximately 1 week. (So if I hand it in on Monday, I won't be able to pick it up until Monday next week) After looking through all of the paperwork, which they will need a copy of all 3 documents they hand you (Temp res permit, receipt for payment of fee, and a letter dealing with overstaying visa officer) and your PP. The visa officer then told me that the Temp res perm is already overdue. it's not really but they want you to get everything done in 1 to 3 days. I got my TRP on Monday, got my paperwork done at chaoyang psb on Tues, had to wait until 10 for the paperwork to get to lama temple psb on wednesday and paid my fine, which has to be deposited to the bank and needs a stamp and a copy of completion along with copies of other papers from the overstay officer. Tried to buy tickets and couldn't make it back to PSB before close. Came in on Thursday to find out my TRP is overdue... They told me to call the local police station and explain to them that I need a new TRP. After calling, the local police said she wanted to talk to the visa officer, which means I had to wait in line AGAIN! those lines take forever to get through especially peak hours of 1-5 pm. I then explained to the officer at visa information desk, and she told me to hold on. She asked another high officer in which they've agreed that it should be ok, and wrote it down. I also had to write something saying that I will purchase the train ticket to shenzhen for the day after I receive my Visa. I brought it to the same visa officer, and after looking through it, she just smiled and stamped the Visa app. Until HK
