and if i do use a hotel out of the airport, do i need a transit visa? i have a US passport and am waiting for a flight 18 hours later.0

It takes around 50 minutes to there by taxi, why don't you take Maglev Train or Subway Line 2? The former one would definitely be faster than taxi.0
