About:China Embassy in Thailand

Hi,
My girlfriend and I wish to travel to China early next year.
I am Australian and girlfriend is Thai, and living in Thailand.

I understand what I need to do to obtain visa and can take care of it in Australia.
My question is in regards to my girlfriend.

Is it just the same? Does she go to Chinese embassy in BKK and apply?

We are only wanting a tourist visa for a 10 days holiday.

Will my girlfriend have any problems getting holiday visa if she is not currently working?
She does have a bit of money in her bank account though.
I will and currently am supporting her.

Thank you

Yes, the procedures for China tourist visa application is almost same at the Chinese embassy in Bangkok. If she is not currently working, the financial certificate will be required by visa officer to prove that she can over the expenditure in China. If she doesn't have much money in her bank account, her application will be denied.

I will provide an initial response and hopefully someone else can add some more info. It is true that in many countries the Chinese consulates will not issue visas to persons who are not residents... so you might well have to apply through an Aus consulate. If so and you don't want the cost and effort of gong home, you can get a friend or an agent to do it. You will have to courier your passport to Aus...but not to the consulate as they won't accept it.

Your gf should apply to the Chinese consulate in Bkk. I am not sure what they will demand in terms of evidence of finance,it varies between countries so that Aus citizens rarely need to prove their financial status. She should be able to visit the consulate and ask the 'receptionist' what is required. If she does need proof of finances, you can transfer some to her or even a letter saying you will support her and a copy of your bank statement. It is always a little uncertain...such is the Chinese system, but on the whole they are easier going than most countries.

PM me if you have more questions.
