It is the cold winter, so please wear warm sweater and down jacket. A pair of woolen gloves and skidproof shoes will be helpful, too. Haven't heard any event on the New Year's Eve yet, but there should be some according to my experiences. And, it is also difficult to estimate whether there will be snow when you are in Beijing. Maybe you can go to some skiing resorts to see snow. Keep an eye on the weather report~
