About:China Transit Visa

I am a Canadian citizen currently living and working in South Korea. I am going to be flying from Incheon International Airport (ICN) in Seoul, South Korea to Bangkok (BKK), but have a 4 hour and 20 minute layover at Shanghai Pu Dong (PVG). Do I need a transit visa for China? I am also flying back from Bangkok--BKK to Shanghai Pu Dong--PVG on my way back to Seoul--ICN. Do I need a transit visa for my return to South Korea? My friend is also traveling with me...however, she is an American citizen.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Visas are not required if you will transit through Pudong Airport of Shanghai, provided you hold valid passports, visas for the onward countries, final destination tickets and have booked seats, and stay in Shanghai for less than 48 hours.
