About:Chinese Embassy in Canada

Hello,
I'm a Canadian currently staying in Japan on the 90 day tourist visa. I would like to take a short trip to China, but I'm told that to apply for a Chinese visa from Japan you need an alien registration card. Is this true? If so, is it possible to apply by mail through the China embassy in Canada? How long would it take for the visa to arrive if they have to send it to Japan?

Yes, it is true. Chinese embassy in Japan requires the Certificate of alien registration with the period of more than half a year if you want to apply for China visa there. You can send back your visa application to Canada, but not through the mail service from the embasssy. Let your family to handle this on your behalf and then send the visa to Japan.
