About:FAQ of Chinese Visa Application

My son & I are going to visit China & HK soon. We both are Canadian citizen but I also hold HK ID and HK's "Return to China" card. I know my son will need the Visa. My question is do I also need to apply a Visa to make sure both my son & I can enter China together? He is too young to go through the separate custom line by himself.

you both need to apply for a visa to enter mainland China, you can process it at Chinese embassy in Canada.
