About:History of Silk Road

Did the conquest of Constantinople in 1453 have any bearing on the decline of the Silk Road? Isn't there some cause and effect that explorers like Vasco de Gama sailed around africa and Columbus sailed west to the New World?

Yes, the fail of Eastern Rome cut off the Silk Road and trade exchange to Europe and Europeans explores have to find other ways through the sea. The Age of Discovery was coming later.
