About:Chinese Embassy in Canada

My name is Kwok Ho Li and I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I am planning to renew my Hong Kong HKSAR passport at Toronto location sometime around December 2010. I would like to ask the following questions regarding my Passport renewal application.

1. I notice that in order to have my new passport mail back to my present address, I will need to apply in person in Toronto. Am I require to make an appointment before I make my visit at the consulate general? If so, can I book my appointment through email?
2. Do I need the prepaid FedEx envelope for the purpose of mailing it back?
3. Is the office close on 25th-28th December, 2010 and back to normal office hour before 24th December and after 29th December?
4. My passport is expiring on 5th July 2011, does it affect my application?
5. I have the ID843 filled, three recent passport photos and my Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card, are there anything else I will need to bring it with me to Toronto consulate general?

Thank you.

1. you don't need to make an appointment with the consulate, please go to the consulate in Toronto directly to apply for HKSAR passport renewal.

2. The consulate in Toronto doesn't provide mail back service, you need to pick up yout HKSAR passport in person or entrust someone else to pick it up.

3. The consulate is closed on 25th-28th December. It is in normal office hours before 24th December and after 28th December.

4. I guess your make a mistake for the expiration of your passport, you write your passport expires on 5th July 2111, do you want to write 5th July 2010.

5. ID853 is also required for payment overseas.

Regarding 2 of my previous questions

#2. Do you mean I need to pick up my passport in Toronto or in Hong Kong? If I entrusted someone to pick it up for me either in Hong Kong or Toronto, will he/she need a letter of some sort with my signature on it?

#4 My passport will be expired on 5th July 2111, the reason I ask is because I heard some people say that it has to be within 6 months of expiration before you can renew the passport.

Thanks

You need to pick up your passport in Toronto. there is a receipt when you submit your application. The person entrust needs to take it along with him to the consulate. For the passport renewal, I never heard of it before if it need about 6 months validity.
