About:Chinese Embassy in Mongolia

Hi,

I am Dutch and currently in Mongolia. I will go to China in October to visit my cousin (she is not Chinese but does a PhD at a university) and travel. Should I apply for a tourist visa or family visa? I will stay at my cousin's place for one week (in Beijing). Is it difficult for her to arrange the invitation?

Thank you for responding!

For visiting family, it requires an invitation letter from your cousin, that is easy for your her/him to offer. But for tourist, it requires hotel booking or travel itinerary in China, so you'd better apply for a family visit visa. Your cousin's residence permit is needed for your application.
