About:FAQ of Chinese Visa Application

Hey there, I'm in a strange situation. I want to travel to China, initially on a tourist Visa and then find a job. I ideally want to stay in China for a year from when I find a job as an English teacher (I have all the requisite qualifications and experience so that shouldn't be a problem).

The problem is that I only want to buy a one way ticket. I'm definitely not returning to NZ and I won't be able to decide on Brazil or Europe until far closer to the date. I know countries are wary of giving Visas to those only traveling one way but I have quite a lot of money saved (around 8000) a really good chance of getting a job so It won't be a problem getting a ticket out of the country.

So to sum up. What I want to do is to buy a one way ticket on a tourist Visa, get a job to get a work Visa and stay for another year or so. At some point during my stay I'm going to decide on my next destination but it's impossible to decide now.

One last thing. My girlfriend wants to come over about two months after I get there so I'm wondering if she would be able to do the same. She is from Brazil but speaks English at an advanced level and has experience in business. We're going to Shanghai so I imagine finding a job shouldn't be too hard for her either. Would she also be able to get a one way ticket?

We're more than happy to show our bank accounts and itinerary etc... Any response would be fantastic.

Mr.Luke, it is possible for you to enter China with an L visa and Chnage it to a Z visa after finding a job in China. For the matter of return tickets, that would not be a big problem. With travel itinerary prepared by travel agency, or copy of your airline ticket (e-ticket), or the bank account certifcate, you can apply for an L visa. your girlfriend can also do this way. But be aware that for all applicants, visa officials from Chinese embassy will finally decide to issue you a visa or not.
