you do not need a transit visa if you hold a through ticket and have booked seats on international airliners flying directly through China, and will stay in a transit city for less than 24 hours without leaving the airport.
You should pass through the Transit Inspection and accept Security Inspection in the special passage. Then go through the customs sample check of hand baggage if necessary and Waiting & Boarding.

thanks for this....... at least at peace of mind. meaning you went also on this very same process... why i asked online, because, it seems that the transit process in beijing is unusual...... they have inspections check, custom check, even baggage claim.. which confused me a lot......

so there will be no baggage claim.. so forth and so on......... by chance you might know this...... normally you can check through your baggade until final destination from the firt airport you depart,,, but i heard that some airlines dont do that-regular full service airlines? what i know is only low-cost airlines dont do in between airport baggage transfers.
