About:Chinese Embassy in Mongolia

sorry i realise I am repeating a question - but is it possible for a UK citizen to get a chinese tourist visa in UB without flight tickets and hotel reservation? I am planning to go to china by train from Mongolia and don't know exactly when or how I will leave china. I have a mongolia tourist visa. thanks!

Ms.lily, it is hard to give you an assuring answer because we are not the consular officer, Whether a visa is to be issued or not, and what type of visa to be issued shall be decided by Consular officers in the light of China's relevant laws and regulations. Application may be refused without detailed explanation.

I can only say that you can have a try, sometimes, the China embassy in Mongolia refuses to issue visa to applicants who are tourists in Mongolia. Maybe the consular officer will ask the tickets, hotel reservation.

Please see the response from Chinese Embassy in UB as I emailed them last week as I need a visa also in September.

"Dear Ciarn Roche，

We are so glad that you will visit China in September. We advise you to apply your visa to the nearest Chinese embassy or consulate general in your country before you start your trip.

However, if you fail to have a chance to get your visa in your country, you may apply a Chinese tourist visa to our embassy upon presenting following documents:

1. Hotel booking;
2. Return ticket (with a copy);
3. Visa Application Form with 1 photo.

It takes a week to process your visa. The single-entry visa costs US $ 30. Any earlier pickup will cost you some express fee at another US$ for picking up on the same day as you apply or US$ 20 for the pickup on the 2nd date after your application.

Please note that the visa office is open between 9:30-12:00 on Monday,Wednesday and Friday except holidays.
