About:China Visa Application in USA

Hello, I am going to Hong Kong in October. From there I will be going to Shanghai then to Beijing then back to the states. Does this require a single entry visa or double? Thank you.

You requires a single-entry visa, Shanghai and Beijing are both within Mainland China, if you go to Shanghai first, then go to Hong Kong/Macau/another country, then go to Beijing, you enter China twice, you need a double-entry visa.
