About:Chinese Embassy in U.S.A.

My family is planning a sightseeing trip to Shanghai from July 28-Aug.1. As an American I understand that I need a visa but my son will be traveling under his Japanese passport which is valid until Jan.11 2011. The travel agent said we might have trouble since my son's passport will expire less than 6 months before our travel. Does he need to get a new Japanese passport before our trip?

Thanks for you help!

yes, he needs to get a new Japanese passport before your trip. The passport with at least 6 months validity and 1 blank visa page is required for visa application.
