About:Chinese Embassy in U.S.A.

I plan to travel to Hong Kong for three days in late July, which I understand a VISA is not required for a less than a 90 day visit. I will be flying on to Beijing from Hong Kong for 10 days - do I need a VISA for a single entry? I just decided this morning to take this much looked forward to trip and have yet to discover the rules for VISAs into China. Thank you, Nola
