Question

I will be visiting Shanghai and Nantong on business at the end of July/beginning August, and would like to spend 2 days in Zhangjiajie.  Is there a good train or bus service from either Shanghai or Nantong to Zhangjiajie, and if so how long would this journey take? Also can you recommend somewhere to stay in ZJJ - I do not like the big tourist hotels and would prefer to experience something more local.  Lastly what would be the closest area to Shanghai or Zhangjaijie to visit the great wall of China? Thank you

If you only have 2 days for a visit, I think you need to go to Zhangjiajie by air, since it will take about 20 hours to go there by train.If you want to stay in local style houses, you can go to private hostels.The closest place from Shanghai is to Beijing, for Zhangjiajie is Taiyuan.
