About:Chinese Embassy in U.S.A.

I am coming to study at Fudan in Shanghai next year. Currently I am engaged to a Japanese woman. We want to know if we should become married before I apply for my student visa in order for her to apply as a dependent/spouse visa. Or if I get my visa first and then we get married, will she still be able to apply as my spouse/dependent?

Thank you for your help!

It is advisable for you to get married before you apply for student visa, after you have the marriage license, you can apply for student visa for you and spouse visa for your wife. You'd better sign the marriage license before a notary public, Certified by the Secretary of the State Office of the state where the document is executed, then certificated by Chinese embassy/consulate in USA.
