About:Ancient Chinese Marriage Custom

Hello, I was having a discussion with my Sociology professor about "blind marriages" in China and he stated that "blind marriages" were more durable than U.S marriages. How can that be? I also said that since most U.S couples cohabit before marriage, how can "blind marriages" be more durable??

I think that Chinese "blind marriage" couples are more durable than the U.S. It doesn't matter whether they are living together before marriage or after marriage. The major reason is the different value U.S. and Chinese people hold. Even if a lot of Chinese couples have blind marriages, they try their best to compromise with each other to let their marriage work. But americans are more self-centered. If they don't feel right about each other, they leave each other easily.
Anyway, there is my own point of view just for your reference.

Well, they last longer because the woman has a "duty" to fullfill as a wife, while western woman are headstrong and are out for themselves, but Chinese women stay with their parnters for a long long time
