About:Hong Kong Visa Policy

Hello,

At the moment I am in Hong Kong as a visitor. Recently I have found a job here and I applied for the working visa. All the papers from me and the company have been filled in and submited with all the required documents to the Immigration Department. However, I have noticed now that my passport will expire by the end of april 2011. Will this be an issue when obtaining a visa? I can get a new passport trough the consulate and I heard they let you have the old one for the visas. Although I have also heard that ones passport has to be valid for at least six months after the end date of the visa. On the government website I can't find a single thing stating anything about the validity of ones passport when applying for a visa. I am a bit curious about what will happen in the coming weeks, wheter I will get a visa or not.

Your passport should have at least one month validity after the expiry date of your Hong Kong visa, the passport with at least 6 months validity is required when you apply for Hong Kong visa, now, you can still use your passport to apply for Hong Kong visa now. Once your passport is void, your visa will be automatically void.
