About:China Embassy in Thailand

I'm a US citizen, currently traveling. I will be in Thailand in June, and would like to get a Chinese visa while there. Will I need an official letter of residence from the Thai government, or is a visa application adequate? (I tried to get a Chinese visa while in the Czech Republic and was turned down on account of not having official residence in the Czech Republic.)

yes, sometimes, if you apply for China visa in a thid country or region, the residence permit or valid visa of this country/region is required, however, as I know, it is easy for USA passport holders to get a China visa in Bangkok.
