Hi there,

I will be heading to Emei Shan in a week or so. Can anyone tell me what the weather is like right now. What should I bring for my hike up the mountain (type of jacket, sleeping bag, etc.)? Also, how long would it take me to hike up the mountain and back down? How many days do you think it will take me? I've allocated 3 days for the whole hike (both up and down). Is that enough time?

Thanks!

Hiking all the time? Emei Shan is well development, so sleep bag is not necessary. There are stores all the way where you can buy water and food, of course, expensive. Need down cold for it is very cold at the top of the mountain. If you want to hiking the whole route: Baoguo Temple-Fuhu Temple, Leiyin, Temple, Chunyang Hall, Shengshui Pavilion, Zhongfeng Temple, Qingyun Pavision, Yi Xian Tian, Hong Chun Ping, Cha Peng Zi, Xianfeng Temple, Yuxian Temple, Jiulong Gang, Xixiang Chi, Baiyun temple, Lei Dong Ping, Jieyin Hall, Tai Zi Ping and then the top, Golden Peak (Jin Ding). You have to walk ten hours in total. Depart from Baoguo Temple at 7am in the morning and arriver at Jin ding at night, 6 or 7pm. This is a fast. Jusr for reference, and it also depends on the rest and visiting time you spend during hiking. You have to stay one night in Gold Peak and get up early to see sunrise or Buddha Light scene if you are lucky. But it is usually foggy and windy, cold there. It take much less time while getting down. So, three days are enough.
