I will be traveling to Shanghai in March and want to take the SMT from the International Airport to Longyang Rd and catch a cab from their to get to my hotel on the Bund. Is it possible to buy tickets for the SMT in advance or do you buy them at the station?

Please purchase the ticket at the station when you arrive there. It is very easy to get one just like purchasing a metro ticket.
