I'm looking for nice day trips (or 2-3 days trip) in Liaoning for me and my fiancee. We're both in our 50s, speak Mandarin, and enjoy cultural and scenic traveling. We'll be in Yingkou for several days (her town) and then will want to travel for 4 or 5 days after that. Been to Dalian and loved it, but looking for something else this time. After maybe Shenyang for a day or two, any suggestions?

yes, I think Shenyang is a good choice, for it is another city in China having imperial palace (museum). You can also visit Dandong, a border city to North Korea with beautiful scenery, Yalu River, Yellow Sea and forests.
