About:Shanghai Pudong Airport

I and my husband will have 8 hour transit at Pudong Airport, so we would like to step out from the airport to explore the city before we fly off to America. Our questions is do we need a visa for that?

-My husband is American, holding an American passport.
-I am Thai, holding Thai Passport with a US green card.

Thank you for your help.

I has a US passport and was told I needed a visa to step out of the airport for my layover. The offical websites confirm this. Please do not give information to people if you are unsure.
