About:China Visa on Arrival

Hi! I just would like to ask what is really the best thing to do concerning my situation. I have a passport with a valid residence permit. When I came home I decided to renew my passport. They cancel my old pssport and now Im waiting for the new one. I dont know if the residence permit stamped on my old passport will still be valid when I return to China next month considering that my old passport was already cancelled but then I have in there residence permit valid until September. I went to the Chinese embassy here in Manila to ask and they told me to get a new visa. Is it true that if your passport is cancelled everything in there is also cancelled even if there is a validity date indicated in there. Please help me as Im confused now and really dont know what to do. Will I get a new visa or not. If not, will the immigration honor the residence permit stamped on my old passport? Thanks for your time and concern in advance.

I think that the residence permit in your old passsport is still valid, however, the Chinese Embassy in Manila ask you to apply for a new Chinese visa, which is the authority.
