About:Chinese Holidays

i have bought a ticket to beijing during 1 to 7 May. I head from people that this is a bad time to visit beijing as it is a golden week. is this true? are there any nearby places to visit (and how to travel there) that are not so crowded as i have already paid for the ticket so cannot change.will it be expensive to find hotels at this time? any suggestion is welcomed.

Yes. During May Day Holiday, many Chinese people travel with their families. The tourist attractions are very crowded. As for hotels, the prices are higher than usual.

I just suggest you not go to those very famous scenic spots because there are too many people.

Dear Mr Josh, can you suggest some not very famous scenic spots so that the answer is more helpful? thank you. would the entertainment areas in the city also be more crowded as well? should i travel to nearby towns and which cities or town is a better choice?

Hi Jason,

As far as I know, China has altered May Day Holiday to three days (May 1 to May 3). During the holiday, the entertainment areas will be crowded and expensive.

You might go to Tianjin, Chengde, Qingdao or Dalian for a visit. But I am worried that there must be crowded too. China has a large population. When the holiday comes, they also plan to travel. Wherever you go, you will see too many people.

Anyway, you have chosen that time to travel. Just take it easy and enjoy your trip.
