About:Chinese Embassy in Singapore

I am a Singapore citizen intending to visit Guangzhou in January-February 2010 for a period of more than 15 days, and I understand that a Visa is required for this extended stay. I am aware that for the processing of a Tourist Visa, the following documents are required:

1. One completely filled out visa application form. No item should be blank .
2. One recently taken 2X2 inch photo showing entire face and without a hat on, affixed to the application form.
3. Original passport with at least 2 blank visa pages and valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of application.
4. Round trip airline ticket and hotel reservation. Application for visiting family or friends should provide certificate of relationship.

May I clarify if I were to be visiting my friend, what type of document is required to certify the relationship? Also, are there any other files that the consul may require?

Please do not clarify the purpose of coming to China for tourism rathern than visiting friends because you can not provide the certificate of the relationship, it is complicated for providing the docuemnts, if you clarify the porpose of tourism, the documents you list are sufficient. Generally speaking, the certificate for relationship means birth certificate, marriage license, you come to China for visiting family members rathern than friends

Dear Ms. Betty,
Thank you for the reply. However, I would be staying with my friend would not have a hotel reservation. Would this be acceptable? If not how should I go about the system?

You can have a try at Chinese embassy in Singapore, sometimes, the visa officer doesn't see the hotel reservation or return air ticket. My USA friend have got a Chinese visa in Singapore without the hotel reservation.
