I will arrive Beijing airport at 12.30 PM and have a connecting flight to Japan at 8.30 AM next day. This means I will need to stay at the Beijing airport for about 20-21 hrs. Is it allowed to stay at the airport without a transit visa? Are there any hotels/rooms etc inside the airport? I do not want to go outside the airport.

I think you have to apply for a China Transit visa, since there isn't any hotels in Beijing Airport.
