About:How to Buy Tickets

Nĭ hăo,

My son, my wife (a Chinese citizen), and I would like to take the train from Chengdu to Lhasa on, or around, Saturday, February 27, 2010. Is there a time schedule that is available? How much will it cost? How long will it take? (I read somewhere that it is a 48 hour trip.) Do you have information on obtaining a TAR permit? Will my son and I need a multiple entry permit in order to return to China? (We would like to fly from Lhasa to Xian on, or around Tuesday, March 3.)

Any information you provide will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Jeff

xia wu hao, Jeryer,
The train number is T22/T23. It leaves Chengdu at 20:59 and arrives at Lhasa at 15:54 on the third day.
The lower soft sleeper is CNY921.00 net per person and the higher sleeper is CNY882.00 net per person.

Foreign travelers need to get the Tibet Travel Permit from a travel agency. Sure, you need to book a tour from the agency as forergners are not allowed to visit Tibet on their own without a scheduled itinerary and tour guide.
