Generally speaking, certificate of relationship refers to marriage certificate or birth certificate for aliens who will go to China for family visit, if you can't provide such a certificate, I'm afraid that you have to provide round air ticket and hotel reservation. You can't bargain with the visa officers. They have full right to deny your application.
