You can just apply for the China visa from the China Embassy in Malaysia with the following documents:
a. Your valid actual passport. The passport must have at least six (6) months validity left before expiration and at least one blank page left in it.
b. One completed Visa Application Form with one additional passport photo (black & white or color is acceptable).
c. An invitation letter from the host company or unit in China.
d. Visa notice from an authorized Chinese unit.
The Embassy may require other documents, since you are not Malaysian.

I think if only you have Malaysian residence permit or valid Malaysian visa will be ok.
