You need the following documents:1. Applicant's passport with blank pages and at least 6 months validity left before expiration.2. A truly and completely filled application form affixed with one passport-sized photo. 3.Round-trip air ticket4. Hotel reservation. Hello, again. Thank you for the information. We have one more question. We are planning to book a hotel for the first night and then packpack around some of the most important sights of China. Would a one-night reservation be enough to get a visa? We would like to stay in hostels while we travel around your country for about 15-20 days.Thanks again for the information.

It is hard to answer such a question, you can have a try. I don't think  the first night hotel reservation is enough for visa application.
