About:Chinese Embassy in U.S.A.

I'm confused. Why would the Portuguese speaking country of the Republic of Cabo Verde, identify their embassy in China as "Embassy of Cape Verde?" It doesn't make any sense at all.

Where do I get a verification code?

I got the info concerning my question from the Chinese Webb site regarding travel to China from the Repblica de Cabo Verde.
