About:Chinese Embassy in U.S.A.

Sir, I am making a tourist visit to Nepal, India, and have a 5 day stop over in Beijing on my return flight to the US to see the city. I'm concerned that I will be able to get both the India visa and the Chine visa in time to leave in a couple of weeks. If I am not able to get the China visa before I leave I can visit the consulate in Kathmandu, Nepal leave the applic, passport, pics and complete the process there? If so, how many days to complete the process and are there any other fees beside the consul fee for US citizens of $130? How is that fee payable?

Finally, if I don't know anyone in China for a reference and am not on a tour and am retired what do I do about an invitation letter? Just a tourist for 5 days flying China Air.

Thx, Gary

I heard that is it difficult to apply for a China visa in a third country recently, but you can confirm this with the China embassy in Nepal.
If you apply it in Nepal, the visa fee should be 130 Us dollars.
If you just transit Beijing, a transit visa will be ok for you.
