About:Shanghai Pudong Airport

Thank you for the informative comments, of all the sources about the airport and short stops in Shanghai this is the best!

I will arrive at Pudong from Frankfurt at 7am via China Eastern, and have a flight at 10am to Hong Kong also China Eastern both in Terminal 1. I want to at a minimum ride the Maglev, but would also like to see a little bit of the city, is there anything interesting within walking distance from the downtown Maglev station? Something quick maybe a view of the city, a market, a shopping center, some interesting building or cultural monument? I gather there wouldn't be enough time to go to People's square and make it back for the next flight.

Any suggestion is appreciated, thanks.

You need at least 100 minutes to handle the transfer. So you only have at most 1.5 hour to get around the city. Suggest you take maglev train to Longyang Road and then change to Subway Line 2 to Lujiazui to see Jinmao Tower, Shanghai World Financial City. The single trip needs half a hour. No time for shopping, I am afraid. No time to the People's Square.
