The materials for the construction came from the nearby mountains. Usually, the materials were found very near to the wall construction site for easy transportation.

The materials were transported to the sites by manpower, animals good at climbing such as donkeys and goats, and by some simple machineries such as rolling logs, crowbars and winding gears.

In history, many laborers were involved in wall construction, but the accurate number was unknown.

Of course, the laborers worked without being paid. They were forced to do it.
